lets try for over 1000 posts

Played a good game last night, showing why a knight on the rim is dim and how to create & attack a backward pawn, missed the finish for a couple of moves but saw it in the end a near smothered mate with his own queen the cause

Had a good win after saccing a pawn for activity and position with an unbreakable pin leading to zugzwang

Analyse position

37...Rxc2 38.hxg5? (38.Rxa5 should hold the draw after 38...gxh4 39.Rf5+ Kf7 40.Rxf5 Kxh6.

38.Rh2+! 39.Kg1 Be3+ 40.Kxh2 Bxa2 and the a-pawn cannot be stopped. 0-1

That gives me a rather fortunate 3/4. Tomorrow I get to play GM Vlastimil Jansa (CZE , 2452) on the Live Boards. Don't expect miracles.

One possibility: 30.f6+ Ke6 31.Rxd7 Rxd7 32.Rxd7 Kxd7 and the king is in the square of the f-pawn. It can promote, but the king then grabs the queen. Meanwhile, both kings are equal distance from the vulnerable pawn on e5. We again reach a zugzwang-type position where White can force the Black king to move, but Black has three squares from which to defend the e-pawn. White has but one square from which to attack. The White king must give way, and Black wins.

Yes, that's what I meant but surely after 30... Ke6 31. f7. It's just a possibility. probably won't work though.
