Hi

I only heard the sad news today. Al was a good man, and he stayed with us in London one year during the annual chess meet of our club, and it was a great time. We also stayed with Al and Lil one summer for 2 weeks, during one of his great lobster feasts. May his soul rest in peace, and may Lil live well and forever!

Martin

There is an entry in the Site Obituaries forum if you would like to add your thoughts to there as well.

I have now created a repeatable tournament series, in memory of Chessnut, at 5 days per move, open to all, and for 6 players at a time.

When you show deep empathy toward others, their defensive energy goes down, and positive energy replaces it. That's when you can get more creative in solving problems.

And, is 5 days per move appropriate?

My own thoughts are no bigger than 6 players.

If no one has any other suggestion, other than 5 days per move and 6 players (open to all), I will be creating a repeatable tournament tomorrow some time.

[Quote from: "Szkodnikow_i_ofiar"]Surely a better approach to this would be either creating a fresh Tournament as a memorial to a loved one is after the culmination of the First Tournament.

As K suggested, we can make it a repeatable tournament.

Yes, certainly I can make it a repeatable one. We just have to decide how big to make the tournaments.

--------------

The first tournament is currently underway.

When we decide on the repeatable one, I will create that, too.

Thanks.

Surely a better approach to this would be either creating a fresh Tournament as a memorial to a loved one is after the culmination of the First Tournament.

Either that or as an annual event with some form of award given as an eg a golden handshake goodie is an idea that springs to mind,

Considering the idea he put forward to the idea of maintaining the handshake goodie is one of the ideas for improvement to Chessworld and is one he originally put forward very recently in this servers history.

Surely this would not be too difficult for KC to set up and Memorial Tournaments have been favourable in many of the correspondence clubs that I have played for.

Its only an idea and yes I am aware that sometimes I can be a little headstrong with my thoughts.
