Isn't it sad when a CC player sits down OTB and realizes he can't use the tools a CC player has at his fingertips? Same game, two very different ways of playing it.

Ock -- I know your question isn't serious - but - i have been thinking about what i can do in addition to tactics and i have come up with an interesting idea. Simply put - it is "visualization exercises". Setup a position from a game or the start then visualize the next few moves and try to setup the corresponding pos from memory. Try to perfect this till you are seeing more and more half-moves ahead with consistent accuracy.

Is there any way that analyse board could be transplanted into my brain, for OTB games?

The provision of the Analyse board, with links prominently placed on the play page, was a deliberate decision by the WebMaster many years ago.

As such you may assume that he, as an exceptionally talented and knowledgeable player, is satisfied that it does not give players any unfair advantage.

I think the Duke has answered your questions about what is "allowed". As to your question regarding OTB play, i believe you should not immediately go to the analysis board. Rather, at first, take advantage of the extra time and try to see more deeply into the position without the analysis board or use of an external chess set. This practices of peering deeply into the position will improve your otb play (imo).

From our Terms and Conditions:

"Immoral and unfair External assistance"

1) Using computer engines to generate your moves
2) Getting someone else (who may be much stronger) to play ones moves
3) Getting your opponent to artificially resign by pre-agreement

"Moral and fair External assistance"

It is however acceptable and encouraged to use conventional resources which are in the spirit of correspondence chess, such as referencing Opening books (which could be electronic), etc. The use of such resources is considered "research" which has always been an attraction of correspondence chess.
