I'm sure there is something in this, in most things that we do and not just chess. To be any good at anything, or rather to reach our potential, we need to spend a fair bit of time on it. But too much time is not great. We get tired, bored, stale, go through the motions and performance drops off.

Maybe you are playing too many games, or playing the same opening all the time, or playing too often when your mind is elsewhere etc etc.

Or maybe you are just overconfident after a string of wins?

Is there such a thing as chess block...I'm in a losing streak caused by silly blunders that I that are so obvious after analysis..Stupid mistakes that left pieces hanging..even had a game where I lost my queen but was so focused on a different position I didn't notice it was gone until two moves later..three stupid losses after a string of wins is very humbling.
