I was going for a Reversed Danish Gambit, which only an absolute idiot would play (I'm well qualified) but you declined the main variation.

I went to look over our 1 game but you played d5 and for some reason I opted pxp over e5. I was sure we had played a KG game at some point but apparently not.

Yes my limited theory knowledge has always made me feel slightly better if someone declines purely on that basis. That said in an effort to play better cc I am going back over three games where I have been annihilated by black very quickly and 'badly'.

Truth be known I am talking players of 2300+ and it is obvious I blundered very early and was never going to recover purely on the piece loss let alone position.

I class my self very much as a fun player so it appeals on two main levels.

1) I roughly know the opening and usual patterns for around the initial 4 or 5 moves
2) Even here with time to think players of my level will make mistakes even with the obvious 'wasted move' as I believe he called it.

Biggest problem I have had is trying to mess around with the initial first two moves. C3 played as second move disguise largely depends on the response and has very mixed results.
Arguably I know as a one trick pony with white I am not going to progress much rating wise here. But I just find other openings ..... well boring in comparison.

Black is much more fun. Little to no idea saves a lot of time on the decision making process

Bobby Fischer thoroughly analyzed the King's Gambit and determined that Black should always accept the gambit. He wrote an article on the opening in 1961, going through some variations -- and of course his own move/variation which he claimed "busted" the gambit. He said that, "The refutation of any gambit begins with accepting it." I don't think that's true of all gambits, but it may be true of the King's Gambit. My current opinion is that the gambit is still playable by White, but Black's best chances are probably to accept the gambit. White needs to have properly studied the opening.

Opening of the Romantic era...
Pretty Useless these days in CC but works well still in OTB and blitz.

I am more curious as to how it is portrayed in this chess/vs life everyone talks about. So...
let us reverse it and see why and if there really is anything in the myth.

The KG is a 'swing' or 'Right Hook' etc if you are a fighter or relate.
If you are with me you know the pro's and cons of this strategy.

So, what next? You keep swinging and wear out that F square?
You bottle and look to castle Q side?
What about the black attack
Infamous waste a D pawn move?
Attack the Knight with the Kings pawns?
Realise it is too weak and old to be in yours notes!

It is a roundhouse with balls waiting to see if your opponent has any!
Discuss..
