I've heard it called Fox and Geese also, as well as Wolf and Hounds. Probably should be considered a 'checker end-game study' (lone 'king' vs. 4 men).

Call it what you will.

I know it as 'Fox and Geese', which I think makes more sense ... because a fox doesn't usually run towards hounds, whereas it might (if very hungry) towards geese!

A game of Blitz Fox n Hounds over a few shots of whisky... That's entertainment!

There are also some nice variations: 2 fox against 8 geese, 3 against 12, or 4 against 16.

Although I'm sure all those permutations have also been solved!

Fox n Hounds, Great Fun

Edit - another solved game so pretty pointless unless you play it in bar live etc, checkers, 4 in a row, etc etc.

Is there a better way to play with half a chessboard?

I know that some people like it ... but to me it seems an incredibly boring and repetitive game!
