I have watched my rating plummet and with it my love of this type of chess trying to come up with something different.

E4(me) will generally respond F4 whether you play E5/C5 or the variety of others in truth. I want that KG position. So I started throwing C3 in instead to nullify the Q's N advance and delay my opening gambit for one move.

It does not work.....
I could spend hours etc on why but decided this forum really should be Chess Google so someone give me the layman's version why it appears to throw up so much trouble delaying F4 one move.
