Can they move 1-5 squares in any direction or only 5 squares? And can they jump over pieces?

"Swapper" - moves like a King but cannot capture anything. If however it chooses to move to an occupied square it trades places with said piece (friend or foe).

It is a fine thing to have your own chemistry set or even dabble in alchemy - but - one should eschew sampling your own product

I suggest "Archer" - moves like a king but can only capture by releasing an arrow 5 squares away diagonally (can either move or fire on a turn). arrows can travel over both enemy and friendly pieces. an arrow can kill a friendly piece.
