Hikaru Nakamura vs Wesley So : London Chess Classic (2016) · Gruenfeld Defense
Nakamura seems to misplay the White side of a Gruenfeld defence and allow black to resourcefully breach a "relative pin" with a fine tactical idea that leaves black simply better out of the opening and White having weak pawns. It was a Gruenfeld player's dream position but action was started with the rather quirky e5 instead of the more routine Qa5. Perhaps this game will popularise e5 as a concept to follow up with f5 which seemed very dangerous in this game for White to handle.
